An Independent Review of the Harbour Trust – the first since the agency commenced in 2001 – is now underway. Announced by the Minister for Environment, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, the review will consider the Harbour Trust’s legislative, financial and governance arrangements and identify pathways to maximise public access to its network of historic sites on Sydney Harbour.
The review is being led by former Secretary of Planning for NSW, Ms Carolyn McNally together with former Executive Director of Infrastructure NSW, Ms Erin Flaherty. Their team will ensure the community has an opportunity to contribute to the review process, both in public forums or through written submissions.
Joseph Carrozzi, the Chair of the Harbour Trust, welcomed the review, describing it as an opportunity for the agency to “take stock of our achievements and ensure arrangements for our places are fit for the future”.
A final report, including recommendations, is due to be delivered to Minister Ley by the end of March 2020.
