New limited edition coin featuring Cockatoo Island / Wareamah

We are very excited to announce that the Royal Australian Mint (the Mint), in partnership with the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), has launched a stunning new $5 coin featuring Cockatoo Island / Wareamah. The Mint has partnered with ICOMOS to produce this coin in recognition of the 21st General Assembly and Scientific Symposium being held in Australia for the first time.

Revised Middle Head / Gubbuh Gubbuh Draft Master Plan available for feedback

From 14 March 2023 until 9 May 2023, the Harbour Trust’s Middle Head / Gubbuh Gubbuh Draft Master Plan was on public exhibition. Following this consultation and review of comments and community feedback, the Revised Middle Head / Gubbuh Gubbuh Draft Master Plan is now available for further feedback.

Emerging heritage professionals to exchange ideas at Cockatoo Island

The Harbour Trust is proud to be a major partner for the ICOMOS General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (GA2023), which commences in Sydney later this month. An initiative of International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), GA2023 will see heritage conservation and management professionals from across the world come together between 31 August and 9 September to exchange ideas and participate in a range of exciting events, including a Youth Forum at Cockatoo Island / Wareamah.

The Harbour Trust has completed conservation works on a pair of buildings at Cockatoo Island / Wareamah that are associated with the historic dockyard; namely, the former Joiners’ Shop and the former Estimating and Drawing Offices.

World’s biggest release of seahorses completed by SIMS at Chowder Bay

On Tuesday 18 July, the Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS) – in partnership with the University of Technology Sydney and the NSW Department of Primary Industries – successfully released 300 juvenile endangered White's Seahorses at Chowder Bay in Mosman.
