Available roles

Our volunteer roles cater for different ages, skillsets and interests. We are currently seeking volunteers for the following positions.

Restoration Volunteers (North Head Sanctuary)

We are seeking 2 suitably experienced and skilled volunteers to assist with restoration and conservation of heritage items associated with the military history of North Head Sanctuary in Manly. Under direction of an on-site supervisor, suitable volunteers will have experience and traditional skills in woodworking and/or metalworking and be willing to work as part of a small team of skilled volunteers onsite at North Head Sanctuary.

We require 1 woodworker and 1 metalworker with skills and experience using machinery and hand tools to work on restoration and maintenance projects. The work is both workshop and site based at North Head Sanctuary on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each week (8am – 2pm). Projects are usually multi skilled, team based and require a flexible approach. These roles will suit suitably skilled people who have an interest in military heritage or North Head Sanctuary and who live locally or within easy commute to the area. 

Volunteer Guide – various sites

We are seeking suitably skilled volunteers to conduct guided tours at several of our extraordinary places across Sydney Harbour. We require volunteers with exceptional communication skills, good knowledge of Australian history and a passion for hosting excellent visitor experiences. Prior experience and skills conducting guided tours for diverse audiences is preferred, along with a strong interest in military heritage and/or heritage values specific to the relevant site/s.

Tours are scheduled on Sundays and midweek by request. Responsibilities also include opening and closing procedures, risk management and willingness to interact with visitors in between tours on rostered shifts.
